A Family Tree Designed for All Ages to Explore

Family trees are a wonderful way to bring generations together, and adding photographs makes them even more personal. Sarahjane Jackson, aka Moth, created her own family tree using Adobe InDesign, producing artwork that could be printed at home on A4 pages as well as viewed digitally as an interactive PDF.

Instead of creating one oversized sheet of paper, the family tree was designed as a flexible multi-page document. The printed version uses clear arrows and page references, allowing pages to be arranged together like a jigsaw. The digital version includes interactive navigation, with clickable arrows allowing users to move easily between family members and sections.

Multi-Function Artwork Created by Sarahjane

Sarahjane designed the artwork to work across different formats and for all age groups. The InDesign file, images, and supporting information are carefully organised, with photographs saved using each person’s full name and date of birth for easy reference.

Stored securely in the cloud, the artwork can be updated in the future with new family members, photographs, and additional information, creating a lasting family document that can continue to grow over time.
