Freelance Artworker Uses Existing Styling and Branding Created by a Graphic Designer

Sarahjane updated and produced an artist exhibition catalogue using existing Adobe InDesign files, styling, and branding created by graphic designer Jenifer Rose. Working from the established design system, she carefully applied the layout structure to new content supplied by M1 Fine Art, including artist images, artwork details, and exhibition text.

Using her Adobe InDesign artwork skills, Sarahjane maintained consistency across the catalogue while updating pages, placing images, and preparing the publication for print. Corrections and amendments were managed efficiently through Adobe Acrobat Reader PDF comments, ensuring a smooth proofing process between the client and artwork stages.

The final catalogue was supplied as accurate, print-ready artwork while preserving the original designer’s creative vision and brand style.

Microsoft Word can be tamed by a designer!

Sarahjane created a Microsoft Word template for University of Cambridge, using Fruit Design‘s InDesign template. They wanted a template to help standardise all their paperwork. Fruit Design’s designer had created the new brand, Sarahjane recreated this style into Microsoft Word. Using headers, footers and Microsoft styles to create a variety of templates. Once these templates are save, it is hard to save over, always giving you a new document.

From Designer to Artworker

Propeller’s designer created the initial concept pages, and Sarahjane continued the production of the remaining 91-page booklet using supplied text and images. Working in Adobe InDesign, she used paragraph styles, master pages, and object styles to maintain consistency throughout the publication while creating an efficient and flexible layout. This structured artwork approach ensured the document remained easy to update, accurate, and production-ready, allowing the project to progress smoothly from creative concept through to final artwork.

Sarahjane creates professional multi-page handbooks using Adobe InDesign, building structured layouts that are consistent, easy to navigate, and ready for commercial print. Two thousand page layout design created by Freelancers

A bid or a tender layout is a huge project. Sarahjane is given a rough Microsoft Word document to import it into InDesign. She uses design corporate brand guidelines and InDesign with master pages and styles to keep the work consistent e.g. fonts, colours, TOC etc. A tender layout is best created a certain way to flow and be amended easily. Tender deadlines become very tight and working late nights and even away from home is not a problem. Amends and sign off are made quicker with the writer beside the InDesigner.

Sarahjane charges by the hour and will keep a detailed timesheet. Based in Brighton but will work anywhere require to get the job done. Please see Sarahjane’s references.

Sarahjane was commissioned by Image Data Group to rebrand hundreds of product learning guide leaflets for John Lewis Partnership, creating updated versions for each individual product while following strict brand guidelines. Although John Lewis Partnership has its own in-house design team, they required an experienced artworker who could work accurately and efficiently through a large-scale rebrand project.

Using her advanced Adobe InDesign skills, Sarahjane applied the new templates, maintained brand consistency, and ensured every leaflet followed the required layout, typography, and styling specifications. Her organised approach and attention to detail allowed the project to progress quickly while maintaining the high standards expected of a leading retail brand.
