Microsoft Excel is limited for creativity and design but InDesign can create company branded tables from your Excel tables. By importing and setting up table styles Sarahjane can quickly change many tables to look the consistent e.g. the same colour and fonts. They can also flow neatly from page to page. Tables are a fantastic way to layout lots of data neatly.
From hotels, golf courses, Spa’s to restaurants requiring literature to be artworked for print or web. Designers in Brighton agencies create beautiful branding, a company’s bespoke style and look.
Sometimes they require an Artworker to help during these busy times, to recreate artwork in all shapes and sizes. This is the stuff designers don’t have time for and it needs an well organised Artworkers full attention.
Sarahjane used Brian previous artwork and recreated the new updated Wired Sussex Job Fair paper. Working in-house in the Brighton studio with the latest InDesign. Copy sent approved and added to layout. Creating a new map from scratch using Illustrator, keeping everything print ready for the tight deadline.
I enjoy a challenge and Fruit asked if I would create Microsoft Word templates for University of Cambridge to help standardise their paperwork. The designer had created the rebrand and I copied this style into Microsoft Word. Using headers, footers and styles to create a variety of templates.
Microsoft Word styles are easy to use once you know how. I am also available to teach.

Table design is neat and tidy and can be achieved with Adobe InDesign styles for a consistent look and feel. A colour of font change can be made with one click instead of multi page amends. Using InDesign, the tables flow nicely from page to page the same a Microsoft Word and can be easily imported. There is more control in InDesign to Word and will look more professional.

Keeping the layout to very strict brand guidelines
Sarahjane rebranded hundreds of product learning guides leaflets into new templates for John Lewis Partnership, one for each item they sell. They have there own in-house team but required someone who could follow strict guidelines and steam through the rebrand. Sarahjane used her advanced skills in InDesign to keep the brand consistent Please see Sarahjane’s references from Image Data Group.

Sarahjane took on the mammoth text heavy layout project in InDesign of EDF’s craft manuals. Eight manuals in total with around 600 pages long each. The original 1970’s manuals where scanned into word files then Sarahjane imported them into InDesign. Using styles she made from the corporate branding and guidelines to create a consistent document. This also links to automated contents pages for each section. Please see Sarahjane’s references.
A car designer will never build or maintain a car, the mechanic does.
A professional Artworker uses InDesign to its full potential (e.g. master pages, styles, keyboard shortcuts, TOC’s etc.). Creating a clean and tidy print ready layout and will be quicker than a designer. This is excellent for large page documents / catalogues / brochures / reports and tenders, keeping consistencies and to corporate branding. An Artworker will also predict future amends and create the layout accordingly. We also have to be highly organised with studio files e.g. images, word files, amends and each office has its own filing structure. This also helps other colleagues pick up a project quickly.
Artworker’s enables the designer do what they are good at – DESIGNING!
